Holland America Line will open up grand voyages and pole-to-pole sailings to travelers hoping to book just a segment, making it easier to explore some of the coolest regions on Earth.
The cruise line will now allow travelers to book one of seven different segments on either its 2025 Grand World Voyage or its 2025 Grand Voyage: Pole to Pole sailings, Holland America shared with Travel + Leisure. Each segment lasts between 33 and 100 days.
“Our Grand Voyages are something our dedicated guests come back for every year while also attracting new guests who are eager to explore the world, but at over four months we recognize that not everyone has that time,” Paul Grigsby, the vice president of deployment and itinerary planning for Holland America Line, said in a statement shared with T+L. “By booking one of our 2025 Grand Voyage segments, cruisers can get a taste of the special atmosphere and community aboard these sailings at an incredible value.”
The grand voyage segments start at $169 per day, including all taxes and fees.
On the Grand World Voyage, which will depart on Jan. 4, 2025, and sail roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale on the Zuiderdam, travelers can pick from several different segments, including from Fort Lauderdale to either Singapore or Sydney, from Singapore to Athens, from Cape Town to Fort Lauderdale, and from Sydney to Cape Town. The shortest available segment is from Athens to Fort Lauderdale, which sails between the two cities over 20 days and includes stops in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and San Juan.
On The Grand Voyage: Pole to Pole voyage, which also sails roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale starting on Jan. 25, 2025, aboard the Volendam, travelers can choose to spend 47 days heading south from Florida to Buenos Aires, including seeing the Panama Canal; or spend 33 days traveling from Amsterdam back to Fort Lauderdale, exploring the coast of Norway and crossing the Arctic Circle along the way.
On this trip, travelers can also book several other segments, including from Buenos Aires to Barcelona, or from Fort Lauderdale to Amsterdam.
Beyond these trips, Holland America sails other extended voyages, including several trips to see the solar eclipse that will cross over Europe in 2026, and a 28-day voyage planned for June 2025 inspired by legendary Norse explorer Erik Thorvaldsson, known as Erik the Red, who founded the first European settlement in Greenland.
