United Airlines has brought back its popular discount for college-aged travelers — offering generous savings on select flights to Europe and India with no blackout dates.
“Student or not, use our exclusive discount for MileagePlus members between 18 and 23 years old,” the airline shared about the promotion on its website. “Whether you’re traveling abroad to Europe or India, get 15 percent off United flights.”
Until Monday, Dec. 9, United is offering a 15 percent discount on round-trip tickets to nearly 20 destinations in Europe and India for travel between Jan. 6 and May 25, 2025. To access the discount, travelers must create a MileagePlus frequent flier account and verify their birthdate using a passport or driver’s license. Eligible travelers must be between 18 and 23 years old at the time of booking — not travel.
Once their age is verified, they will be able to select the young traveler discount when searching for flights on United’s app. The current discount applies to United or Star Alliance flights to destinations in Europe, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Geneva, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Munich, Paris, Vienna, and Zurich, as well as to select cities in India like Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, and Hyderabad.
This new international promotion is offered alongside United's ongoing young traveler discounts, which offer a 5% savings on any United flights in economy or basic economy. To qualify, these flights must be booked by Dec. 31, 2025, and for travel anytime up to 330 days in advance.
For all other travelers who don’t qualify for a young adult discount, United is offering up to a 100% bonus on purchased MileagePlus miles through Thursday, Nov. 21, at 11:59 p.m. CT. Purchasing miles can be a cost-effective way to save on flights, particularly for upcoming holiday travel, if the award fare is lower than the cash price for the same flight.
