Spirit Airlines is rolling out more perks for its loyalty members.
Fliers who are members of the discount airline's Free Spirit program will now have access to free Wi-Fi, allowing passengers to stream television shows or movies, in addition to surfing online and checking email.
Spirit measures its loyalty program through a system of "Status Qualifying Points" (SQPs), with each dollar spent with the airline earning a SQP. In order to achieve the Gold level tier, passengers need to have at least 5,000 SQPs. Gold Members also receive a free checked bag, carry-on bag, advanced seat selection, and other perks.
The loyalty program's Silver tier only requires 2,000 SQPS, but does not include the free Wi-Fi as a benefit.
Loyalty members in the Free Spirit program can earn double reward points on purchases of the ‘Go Big’ or ‘Go Comfy’ on bookings made by Dec. 31 of this year, and travel before Dec. 31, 2025.
“These changes build on Spirit’s transformation and investments to provide Guests with greater value and enhance their travel experience,” a Spirit Airlines spokesperson shared in a statement to Travel + Leisure.
Spirit's latest amenity upgrades come as the airline has rolled back cancellation and change fees, and also updated its fare classes. For example, the airline now offers three levels of service including 'Go Savvy', 'Go Comfy', and 'Go Big', where the 'Go Savvy' includes only one standard checked bag or carry-on, and Comfy includes a blocked middle seat for extra space. .
The airline has been on the move with new routes to Boston, San Diego, and new international service to Costa Rica.
