Southwest’s latest sale wants to help you and your friends plan a getaway — but you’ll have to act fast. In celebration of 30 years of the hit show Friends, the airline is streaming free episodes through its inflight entertainment and offering limited-time savings of up to 30 percent off flights.
This sale, which ends tomorrow, Sep. 26, at 11:59 p.m. PT, is available for travel from Oct. 24 to Jan. 31, 2025. To receive the discount, travelers must use the promo code “FRIENDS” when looking up flights on Southwest’s website or app. However, interisland flights in Hawaii and Orange County travel are excluded from this promotion, and there are several blackout dates:
- Continental U.S. travel is blacked out from Nov. 22 to 27, Nov. 29 to Dec. 2, Dec. 20 to 23, Dec. 26 to 29, Jan. 2, Jan. 4 to 5
- Flights to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and international destinations are blacked out from Nov. 21 to 25 and Dec. 18 to Jan. 7
- Flights from Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and international destinations are blacked out from Nov. 29 to Dec. 3 and Dec. 18 to Jan. 7
Travel + Leisure used the discount code on several one-way flights this winter in Southwest’s “Wanna Get Away” fare class:
- Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL): $170 ($232 without the promo code)
- Kansas City (MCI) to Orlando (MCO): $105 ($114 without the promo code)
- Phoenix (PHX) to Seattle (SEA): $63 ($74 without the promo code)
- Baltimore (BWI) to Portland (PWM): $131 ($160 without the promo code)
“This Friends-themed fare sale is for everyone—whether you’re ‘on a break’ and flying solo or have a special ‘lobster’ you’re flying with and want to book another getaway,” shared Southwest’s vice president of marketing, Jennifer Bridie, in a statement. “Our flexible policies, such as no change or cancel fees, allow our customers to ‘pivot’ their plans, and we’ll be ‘there for you’ to help you book your next trip.”
